Event Detail
Concluding Transit Five Productions’ 2008 Season of Premieres, Executive Director Brian Barasch will direct the Cincinnati Premiere of the play Cloud Tectonics on August 7-16 in Xavier University’s Studio Theater.             Jose Rivera’s play is an enchanting yet mystifying love story with a distorted sense of time.  Rivera weaves a boy-meets-girl narrative told through the style of magic realism where ordinary things are not what they seem.  On a rainy night in Los Angeles, Anibal de la Luna picks up a pregnant hitchhiker.  He offers her shelter for the night, and in his home gradually realizes she has a mystical way of thinking and that time doesn’t affect her in the same way.             Playwright Jose Rivera is most well known for writing the screenplay of Motorcycle Diaries, which earned him an Academy Award nomination and made him the first Puerto Rican screenwriter to be nominated by the Academy.             The cast consists of Julia Albain, Jonathan Helvey, and Drew Tholke.  All three are currently studying acting at the University of Michigan, Roosevelt University, and Boston University respectively.

Performances are August 7-16, with shows Thursday through Saturday nights at 8pm.  The Studio Theater is located in the Gallagher Student Center on Xavier’s campus (3800 Victory Parkway).  Tickets are $12 for students, $15 for adults, and can be purchased by emailing tickets@transitfiveproductions.com or by calling (513) 378-9358.     CONTACT: Lisa Huneke
